Counsellors at Aegis Counselling Service have all developed specialist skills through clinical practice, training and, for some, conducting additional research which is contributing to the counselling knowledge base in the UK. This means that we understand the topics of domestic violence and sexual abuse very well, and are fully aware of the difficulties in sharing the stories of those experiences. It is vitally important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor, and that you are able to go through your own process of disclosure, at your own pace. It is up to you how much, or little, you want to share.
Generally speaking, the counselling process for these experiences is a little longer than for general counselling, and can extend for some months. This can be a significant financial burden for some people, too great to contemplate, even with the reduced counselling rates at Aegis. If you need to access specialist counselling but are restricted by your finances, please let us know at your initial assessment and we will discuss options with you.
In addition, we also specialise in work related stress. A number of our counsellors have previous experience in working within multi-national companies and small business enterprises. Knowledge of the stresses, strains and requirements of these environments means we can offer an understanding ear as well as helping to explore realistic and workable options to resolve your difficulties. If work has reached a crisis point in your life, please do get in touch as we may be able to help.
